The following list is a showcase summary for each business simulation assessment event. Sector recommendations have been made. However, these simulations can be applied to any industry sector, creating neutral subject matter for selection, promotion and management development.

Building Northwhile

A simulation based on community re-generation issues, which will involve written analysis, group discussion and presentation. Especially useful for assessing analytical skills and capabilities of managing resources, leading people and collaboration. This event has particular relevance to Local Government environments, not for profit or community organisations.

This evolves around a transport initiative to aid tackling poverty in a fictional Country. Building and working through a consortium will assess skills in people management and strategic thinking through group discussion and presentation. Useful to highlight issues in multi-cultural environments and lends easily to the transport sector.

This simulates the management and operational challenges of working within transport businesses and assesses capabilities of problem solving, planning, results orientation and conflict management through group exercise, written analysis and role-play.

Heightened Security

This complex simulation based around prevention of terrorist attack, uses group discussion, role-play, presentation and written analysis. It is especially useful for assessing resource management, leadership and collaboration. Multiple strategic and operational agendas are contained within this event. This event aligns well to policing and security businesses.

Managing The Games

Participants are assigned the role of an independent advisor to the Games Council for England (GCE), a body made up of government officials and games officials, whose responsibility it is to organise the games. Participants are challenged in relation to strategic thinking, leadership, financial management, resources management, and people management within this exciting and politically sensitive backdrop. This event has particular relevance to Local Government environments, event management/public relations organisations, and not for profit or community organisations.

Managing The Wildlife

Working within the simulation of establishing a new key wildlife park in the UK, this will assess project management skills, the full range of resource management, analytic thinking and negotiating. Fact-finding, group discussion, role-plays and presentation are the constituent parts. This event has high face validity in public relations and communications contexts, event management, environmental and scientific businesses.

This topical and complex simulation will assess strategic skills, collaboration, conflict resolution, resource management and analysis through group discussion, in-tray exercise, role-play and presentation. This event has high face validity in media or advertising businesses, and may be particularly useful for managers working with business reputational issues, damage limitation issues and/or external stakeholder conflict.

The Environmental Protocol

Applying a crime prevention simulation, this will use group discussion, fact-finding, written analysis and role-play. Key capabilities assessed include leadership, strategic thinking, influencing and results orientation. This event has high face validity in energy sector businesses, but would also work well in security sectors, police and military. Other potential settings include planning and environmental sectors.

Event management demands capabilities of communication, analysis and collaboration, all of which are assessed within this simulation of festival management. Participants will work through group discussion, written analysis and presentation to demonstrate strategic and operational reasoning. This business simulation works very well in event management organisations, public relations and media organisations.

Floodplains, essential for diverse ecology and also potentially threatening to human habitation, are the backdrop to this simulation. Working with complex material, capabilities assessed include clear strategic leadership, negotiation, people management and results orientation as well as handling conflict. This disaster recovery event creates a challenging neutral setting applicable to all organisational sectors.

Working with staff and volunteers within a charitable organisation, this is directly useful to assess capabilities of collaboration, leadership and managing resources within not-for-profit, public relations and media sectors. The simulation uses written analysis and group discussion.

A futuristic simulation, this will assess abilities of working within and across organisation boundaries, combining immediate operational needs with longer term strategic priorities. Leadership, resource management and collaboration will be tested through group discussion, written analysis and presentation. This event creates a challenging neutral setting applicable to all organisational sectors. However, it will have high face validity in not for profit, public sector and aid organisations.

Sustainable energy is the basis for this simulation, which assesses analytical handling of data, people management, and project management through group discussion, written analysis and presentation. This event aligns well to the energy, science and manufacturing sectors.
